23rd Annual Motor City Comic Con - Novi (All Day)
Motor City Comic Con, Michigan’s original Comic Convention, celebrates its 23rd Anniversary, May 18-20 at the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave in Novi. The 2012 event brings together a stellar roster of Comic world luminaries, as well as a glittering array of iconic TV and film stars and fan favorites from the World of Wrestling as well.

Featured media guests thus far include Dean Cain, of TV’s Adventures of Lois and Clark, the cast of cult movie classic Boondock Saints, including Norman Reedus of current AMC smash hit series the Walking Dead, David Della Rocco and Sean Patrick Flanery--plus famous blonde bombshells Loni Anderson of WKRP in Cincinnati, and actress and Internet sensation Cindy Margolis. The talent and scope of Comic creators appearing at the 2012 Motor City Comic Con is unparalleled in the history of the show.
Highlights include Joseph Lee, a Director on Fox TV show Family Guy, Mike Grell artist/writer of Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Warlord, X-Men Forever and Action Comics, Ethan Van Sciver, an accomplished artist and perennial fan-favorite, who has contributed to many popular works at both Marvel and DC Comics-- and Peter Bagge, author of the famous ode to slackerdom, HATE, and former editor of R. Crumb's legendary magazine, WEIRDO. Original art and limited edition prints by many of these contemporary masters are available for purchase at the event! Motor City Comic Con gathers comic book and multi-media dealers from across the country, offering a vast variety of pop culture merchandise, including comics, art, tee shirts, movie memorabilia, posters, and more. Over 250 comic book creators, writers and artists will be on site at Comic Con, as well as more than forty actors from the television and sci-fi movie industry. Comic Con offers big fun for kids young and old! Fans from across the Midwest travel to Motor City Comic Con to compete in the wildly popular Costume Contest on Saturday afternoon. Local celebrity judges will determine who will win the cash and gift packages, but all who participate and attend enjoy the hilariously fun afternoon! The Grand Prize winner also takes home a pair of monthly movie passes for a year.

Classic Cars and Music in Downtown South Lyon This Summer!Get to Lake Street in Downtown South Lyon on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 6:30 - 9:30 pm, May through September! The Lake Street Cruise-In is a new event organized by the Lake Street Tavern. Lake Street will be shut down between Lafayette and Wells Street to host classic cars and a DJ - in other words, a block party! Each date will feature a local car club, but ALL cruisers are welcome at each and every event.

Rochester Heritage Days is a collaborative effort of community groups including the Rochester Historical Commission, Rochester/Avon Historical Society, Rochester Fire Department, Dinosaur Hill Nature Preserve, Rochester Lions Club,Oakland Twp Historical Society and Rochester Community House.This two-day festival features a huge variety of activities including an arts and craft show and sale, Rochester Lions car shows, live folk music, Civil War reenactments, demonstrations, antique fire trucks martial, Reg Pettibone's families authentic Native American Indian program. Novi Memorial Day Run (9:00 AM)
We are pleased to announce the inaugural City of Novi Memorial Day run. This special event for children and adults will start and finish at Fuerst Park, just south of 10 Mile Road and Taft Road. The festivities begin with a children’s one mile fun run, followed directly by start of 5K run/walk and 10K run. The purpose of the event is to promote fitness for all ages, including children, support local charities via a canned food drive, and spread community spirit by encouraging runners to stay for the annual parade.
Additional Information: Entrants that bring at least three cans of food will have their registration fee reduced. Register before May 16 to ensure a tech shirt.
Family Price: One Mile Walk - $12 per person 5K Run/Walk - $24 before May 1, $29 after 10K Run - $29 before May 1, $34 after

Memorial Day Parade - Ferndale (10:00 AM)
The Ferndale Memorial Association organizes Ferndale’s Annual Memorial Day Parade.The parade is a serious event. The organizers take pains to remind participants and crowd that this is an opportunity to memorialize those who served, not a time for celebration or jokes.
Pictured are the Ferndale Police Honor Guard, who lead the parade and always shoot the salute at the program. For Memorial Day, the Parade will start at 10:00am. For the Parade Route, The Parade participants enter the parade along Livernois from Maplehurst, Lewiston, Cambourne, and Breckenridge Streets. The Parade officially starts on Livernois at West Breckenridge, and heads north. The parade will march east on Maplehurst, south on Woodward, west on 9 Mile, and south at Livernois, ending at the Memorial Mall in front of Ferndale Fire Station #1.
