Spring is in the air and the kids are off of school for a long spring break! Thankfully, many Oakland County and Metro Detroit, Michigan businesses and libraries offer specials on things to do for kids when they're out of school for spring break.

Spring Break Schools Out Camp in Auburn Hills, MI

North Oakland YMCA has mid-winter break "Y Schools Out Camp" from April 2nd - April 6th, 2012 from 9a-4p with before care and after care available for no additional cost. Activities include swimming, games, arts and crafts, sports and much more! Cost is $40 per day for Y members and $60 per day for non-Y members. This Spring Break Camp is offered for kids ages 3-5 (pre-school camp) and kids ages 6-13 (grade school camp).

Spring Break Indoor Bike Park Camp in Lake Orion, MI

Vert Village BMX is open during Spring Break April 2-9th, Monday - Friday 12:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday 10:00-9:00pm, Closed on Easter Sunday, and Monday April 9th 2:00pm- 9:00pm. Experience the thrills of BMX Biking with box jumps, rollers, and padded landings that make trying new tricks safe. On site coaches help children navigate the course and share tips to make their ride more fun. Rent a bike for $10 and a helmet for $3 or bring your own bike.  Cost is $10 for 1 hour, $15 for 2 hours, or $20 for all day Monday-Friday, and Saturday is $25 for an all day bike pass. 

Spring Break Horseback Riding Camp in White Lake, MI

This camp includes riding instructions each day for 2 hours and clinics that range from horsemanship and stable management to veterinary care. Campers will be assigned a horse to take care of the entire time at camp, as it was their own horse!  We celebrate the last day of camp by participating in games both on and off the horse to demonstrate the skills learned during camp. Campers are required to wear a riding or bicycle helmet, hard-soled shoes with a slight heel and long pants.  Camp fills quickly…so register early! Camp is Monday through Friday of Spring Break from 10a-3p and costs $250. Spring Break Horseback Riding Camp is for riders ages 7-16.

Rochester Hills Skating and Sports Arena is offering $3 open skates for roller-skating during Spring Break - April 2nd through April 6th, 2012. Open roller-skating times will be from noon-3p. Roller skate rental is available for $2 and inline skate rental available for $3.

Paint Party Royal Oak is offering group painting classes on April 3rd and April 5th from 1p-3p. Paint Party provides 11x14 canvas, acrylic paint, brushes, aprons and step-by-step instruction! A responsible adult must accompany the child and remain during class. Adults are encouraged to paint as well. Cost is $20 per painter.

Come join in exploring the world of art through technology!  This 5 day camp will teach participants all about digital technology and allow them to flex their creative muscles by utilizing technology to make art. Students will learn how computers work, how websites are made and about the many creative opportunities technology provides. Activities will include creating jewelry out of computer parts, shooting & editing a digital video, composing songs on the computer, and many more. The camp will be facilitated by Agents from the Geek Squad whose knowledge and enthusiasm for technology will provide a fun & eduactional experience. The camp runs from 9a-3p April 2nd through April 6th. This spring break camp is designed for kids 1st through 8th grade. Cost $320 for BBAC members and $360 for guests.

Oakland County Parks' Great Marshmallow Drop at Catalpa Oaks in Southfield, MI
Friday, April 6th at 10a - 15,000 marshmallows will be dropped from a helicopter. Kids pick up marshmallows and return them for a free gift from Oakland County Parks.
