Checkpoints - Keeping Teen Drivers Safe

March 22, 2011

altCheckpoints is a Michigan-based non profit program designed to provide information about teen driving safety and current teen driving laws in Michigan. The website is a free resource provided through a grant to the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute from the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.

Checkpoints also offers an interactive teen driving agreement that can be filled out with your teen driver. Checkpoints states that parents and teens who create and use a parent-teen driving agreement during the first months of their teen getting their license ultimately get fewer tickets and reported fewer risky teen driving behaviors.

The Checkpoints website is extremely easy to use and provides a wealth of information. In addition to the parent-teen driving agreement, the website includes facts about teen driving safety, tips, and even videos on how to educate teens on various aspects of teen driving safety.
