Homemade Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Recipe
Up until last week, I was the mom who bought frosting in a plastic can. I got no complaints, but just wanted to try something homemade, especially since I received a copy of Big Book of Cupcakes - a book filled with 150 different cupcake recipes!
My kids flip through this book like it's the World Almanac, reading through recipes and picking out which might be their favorites. I did not have time (nor all the ingredients on hand) to make one of the cupcake recipes, so this time around I went with just the chocolate buttercream frosting recipe.

I loved how this homemade chocolate buttercream frosting tastes. It's not overly sweet like the canned version. My only suggestion would be to add more whipping cream than the recipe calls for because the consistency seems a bit too thick.
Homemade Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/3 cup whipping cream
1/8 tsp. salt
1 16oz. package powdered sugar
Homemade Chocolate Buttercream Frosting Directions
1. Beat first 4 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
2. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating at low speed until blended. Beat at high speed 2 minutes or until creamy. Makes 3 cups.
